Las actuaciones por parte del gobierno frente al rechazo multitudinario de la población hacia la reforma y hacia otras situaciones de inequidad y corrupción, dan cuenta del quiebre de la democracia nicaragüense.
La Red de Salud de las Mujeres Latinoamericanas y del Caribe – RSMLAC, rechaza la represión por parte del gobierno actual de Nicaragua, con la que se busca frenar y silenciar las masivas manifestaciones y las protestas de la ciudadanía en rechazo a la reforma del Instituto Nacional del Seguro Social (INSS).
Es de gran preocupación que el gobierno esté vulnerando el derecho legítimo de la protesta y la manifestación haciendo uso de la violencia de manera indiscriminada contra jóvenes, personas jubiladas, mujeres, defensoras y defensores de derechos humanos, que rechazan el aumento de la cuota patronal y laboral y que crea nuevas cotizaciones para las y los jubilados; hasta el momento se registran muertes, miles de denuncias por los actos violentos contra la población civil y amenazas directas contra defensoras y defensores de derechos humanos.
Las actuaciones por parte del gobierno frente al rechazo multitudinario de la población hacia la reforma y hacia otras situaciones de inequidad y corrupción, dan cuenta del quiebre de la democracia nicaragüense, de la crisis en todo su aparato institucional, de la falta de independencia de los poderes e instituciones del Estado y de las grietas sociales, económicas y políticas por las que atraviesa el Estado Nicaragüense.
Frente a la situación actual de Nicaragua:
- Hacemos un llamado para que organizaciones de la sociedad civil de América Latina y el Caribe, se pronuncien en rechazo y exijan garantías para las y los ciudadanos.
- Exigimos que los organismos internacionales hagan seguimiento debido a las denuncias de la población civil, que se encuentra desprotegida y a la merced de la violencia institucional.
- Denunciamos los actos de violencia, asesinatos y amenazas que están sufriendo los y las defensoras de derechos humanos, por parte de las fuerzas gubernamentales y parapolíticas.
- Rechazamos las amenazas dirigidas a nuestras compañeras, Sara Henríquez y Ana Quiroz, quienes en su labor diaria buscan garantizar los derechos de las mujeres.
- Hacemos responsable al gobierno de Nicaragua de los asesinatos que puedan ocurrir en el marco de las movilizaciones.
- Demandamos al Estado Nicaragüense responder democráticamente, sin violencia y garantizando el derecho a la protesta, todas las demandas, exigencias y necesidades de la población.

SOS Nicaragua, government repression puts the civilian population at risk
The Latin American and Caribbean Women’s Health Network – LACWHN, rejects the repression by the real government of Nicaragua, which it seeks to stop and silence the massive demonstrations and protests of the citizens in rejection of the reform of the National Institute of Social Security (SSNI).
It is of great concern that the government is violating the legitimate right to protest and the demonstration using indiscriminate violence against young people, retired people, women, human rights defenders, who reject the increase of the employer and labor quota and that creates new quotes for the retirees. Deaths are recorded, thousands of reports of violent acts against the civil population and direct threats against human rights defenders.
The actions by the government in the face of the mass rejection of the population to the reform and other situations of inequality and corruption, show the breakdown of Nicaraguan democracy, of the crisis in all its institutional set, of the lack of independence of the powers and institutions of the State and social, economic and political cracks conditions that the Nicaraguan State is going through.
Facing the real situation in Nicaragua:
– We call for civil society organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean, pronounce themselves in rejection and demand guarantees for citizens.
– We demand that international organizations follow up due to the denunciations of the civilian population, which is unprotected and at the mercy of the institutional violence.
– We denounce the acts of violence, murders and threats that are suffering human rights defenders, by the governmental and parapolitical forces.
– We reject the threats directed to our partners, Sara Henríquez and Ana Quiroz, who in their daily work look for to guarantee the rights of women.
– We made responsable the Nicaraguan government for the murders that may occur within the framework of the mobilizations.
– We demand that the Nicaraguan State respond democratically, without violence and guaranteeing the right to protest, all demands, demands and needs of the population.
